Wit's end with gastritis.

I get flare ups of gastritis now and again & the Dr has given me esomeprazole which I tolerate well and usually works, except his time ( just in time for christmas) & I'm at my wits end, the burning in my actual stomach ( so below my breasts in the middle) has been non stop for 6 days and spreads to the abdominal area above my belly button. When I poo I have hours of lower abdominal cramps afterwards.
Can anyone offer any suggestions, I'm avoiding the usual culprits, booze, caffeine, sweet food, citrus, spices, mint & ginger etc but this morning even porridge caused it. I've had the camera down my throat and into my belly twice, last one in the first lockdown, nothing nasty found. I'm not really burning or farting excessively but if I do I get a mini relief. I just want to be able to eat my Christmas lunch :-(.

I could literally of written this myself. Mine has been below the left rib for past 2 days and now seems to of spread over my whole stomach. The whole thing just makes me really anxious. I had an endoscopy about 2 months ago and was diagnosed with mild gastritis. I dread to think what sever is like. Feeling very sorry for myself today

I feel your pain literally. I am currently awake due to the agonising pain that started about 2 hours ago. I would rather go through another labour than deal with this pain. Ended up in a&e a few weeks ago and was diagnosed Gastritis, now have Omeprazole on repeat but still having flare up's a few times a week and like yourself at my wits end. Waiting on a scan that my gp has referred me for to check for a stomach ulcer also. I can see me waiting a few months Confused

I don't know if this has anything useful for you? There are lots of tips for different ways to heal your gastritis, or settle it if it is "just" a flare-up:

Sorry OP, I hope you managed to enjoy Christmas day a little. I managed to make it to 4am today before the gastritis flare 😆 My own fault for having about a centimetre of Baileys on Xmas Eve I think (and then roast dinner yesterday obviously).

If you struggle to sleep I’ve found that stacking pillows and then kind of half dozing on all fours with the pillows under my stomach takes a little of the pressure off the stomach lining and I can grab the odd few minutes of light sleep. (Clearly I am single 😆) I also double dose the omeprezole.

Good luck OP.

Just popping in to ask if you have had a H Pylori test? It's a bug in the gut that causes all kinds of symptoms, some of which you have. It isn't necessarily that, but I was diagnosed with it when I became full very quickly, bloated, nauseous, stomach pain etc.

I was treated with triple therapy for two (very long...) weeks, two different antibiotics and a PPI like omeprazole.

Had a further test a little while after completing the treatment to see if the infection had cleared, it had, and I am so much better now.

Just thought I'd mention it, as it might be something to ask about. If it's not that well, back to the drawing board. All the best.
