Tips for recovery after a fall

I had a bad fall yesterday, no broken bones but I hurt my face and arms and today I am full of bruises and feel very achy. If truth be told I’m still in shock. The hospital just suggested ibruprofen , does anyone else have any suggestions? A warm bath has helped a bit.

Arnica tablets or cream can be great for bringing out and relieving bruises.

Feel better soon!

Arnica helps. Take otc painkillers as instructed, rest, keep yourself warm, drink plenty of fluids and eat, add in some very gentle stretching exercise such a short, easy walk for 10-20mins. Do something easy and restful such as listening to podcasts or a book on tape.

Arnica cream, hot packs, baths, otc painkillers.
I did something similar recently, and tore a muscle in my arm.

Rest as much as you can to allow time to heal.

Thank you, I’ll get some arnica cream. Feeling very sorry for myself - not like me!

Heat bags are wonderful for relieving aches. The ones you microwave. Otherwise keep topped up on painkillers (I alternate paracetamol with ibuprofen) and take warm baths or showers whenever it’s really bad.

Will try the heat bags too. Thank you xx

Alternating heat pads and ice works well if you can bear it. I used a cream called hirudoid when I had a massive bruise and it was amazing at getting rid of it. Went from purple to clear overnight. It was an over the counter thing too.

@TellySavalashairbrush , hope you are not feeling too bad. I've a fall a few days ago and ended up with this massive bruise and a big lump on my thigh. Hurt my arm and elbow too. I'm going to give Arnica cream a try.

TellySavalashairbrush · 22/12/2022 11:13

Aw bobatea, I do feel for you and hope you make a swift recovery. I am discovering new bruises everyday! It is ridiculous how one fall can affect people so much.

@TellySavalashairbrush , I've just came back from the minor injury centre. The nurse checked my injuries and cleaned up a wound. Hopefully, both of us are on the mend very soon!

Oh bless you, falls really do shock.

All of the above suggested and also - cosy up on the sofa (preferably with a pet) and watch something comforting, with a flask of tea.
