Laryngitis

Help! I’ve got laryngitis. Don’t feel too bad, sore throat, annoying cough but I have absolutely NO voice. I’m a teacher and luckily finished yesterday but I’m already fed up of not being able to talk. Any remedies thst people suggest? Anyone had it before, how long was it before your voice came back? We’ve had two rubbish christmases back to back because of covid so was really looking forward to this one!

I had laryngitis just two weeks ago although I had an incredibly sore throat and mouth to go along with it! I lost my voice on day 2 of the virus I had and had it back properly on day 6 but could speak hoarsely on day 5. Couldn't shout (after the kids!) for another few days though.

Lots of warm drinks, rest, not talking and plenty of paracetamol/ibuprofen for the pain got me through. Hopefully you're all better by Christmas!

I have it too. Day 4 and still really painful. Have had to cancel my appointments at work (I'm self employed) as I simply can't speak. I've had it before and it does go away of its own accord. Developing a cough now. I'm just drinking lots and taking ibuprofen. Paracetamol doesn't touch the pain. I've just used an online Dr for something else-I didn't push about the laryngitis as it's probably viral and I don't want antibiotics unless absolutely necessary. It's just a nuisance at this time of year. I'm going to cancel my appointments for tomorrow too as I can't see it getting much better right now.

Ah I hope you feel better too! I’m allergic to ibuprofen but I’ll keep up with the paracetamol. It’s so rubbish and incredibly frustrating not being able to say anything 🙊 I’m on day 3 so hopefully I’ll be feeling better soon. Can’t imagine Christmas where I can’t talk!
