Swollen glands

Almost two weeks ago I caught a horrible virus that caused my throat to be incredibly sore and red, with red spots on the roof of my mouth and incredible pain when swallowing. I also lost my voice. Went to GP who said it was viral laryngitis and rest and warm drinks would make it better. After about 5 days it was mostly better but still occasionally uncomfortable.

Now my throat feels fine although I'm a bit mucousy on and off but for the last three days I've had a slight earache and one of my glands feels quite swollen and tender. The earache isn't really even bad enough to take painkillers, just uncomfortable. Is this likely to be the same virus as before still causing problems or have I gone and caught yet another bug? Also, how long before they should go down since I'm now "recovered"? In other words, how long do I wait before talking to the GP again??
