Bronchitis? Warning gross photo!!

I've been ill for about 4 days.

Fever, temperature, sweats, vomiting, cough.

Now my throat is incredibly sore and I'm just coughing up this stuff constantly.

Is it worth trying to see the GP? Will they even do anything?
Can I buy something over the counter to help.

I'm so stressed. I can't eat or be active for too long without needing a nap

My chest is so sore.

I've got no Christmas food shop. I've not wrapped a single present 😭😭

Op, that is awful. I’ve had this for about a month now. Started to feel a smidge better but went downhill at the weekend so went to the doctors. She prescribed antibiotics and said it sounds like a deep infection and if I don’t feel remarkably better by Wednesday, I need to go back. Thankfully, I can definitely feel a difference in my chest so hopefully I’m on the mend and I hope you are too x

I thought I was getting a bit better but I feel like I've got a fever again. My throat is killing me and all my tongues swollen up.

I was having fever dreams and I just need to sleep.

Do you have any jelly in? Drink it warm - it's good for soothing your throat

And go have a warm bath

Can you bear to gargle salt water? Always helps a sore throat and kills bacteria.
Then hot juice / squash with honey all day! Get well.

I think your gp was wrong to send you home.like that. I would get a second opinion. Hope you're better soon. You seem really unwell op.

Swollen tongue is not normal with the kind of thing. Back to gP and push to be seen or push for antibiotics or both.

One time I wasn't going to be given antibiotics and I ended up bursting into tears. They prescribed them but told me to wait a few days before taking them.
I promised. Then went home and immediately took them. Felt better after two days.

Also as pp says gargle or swirl salt water.

That sounds terrible. I’ve had my chest infection for 5 weeks. I’m asthmatic and was prescribed amoxicillin for 5 days, it was still there but not gone, so I was given clarithromycin which I had a reaction to. The cough was clearing, but got worse, I’m now on steroids which are helping.

I do think you should get a second opinion. It’s horrible not sleeping. I’m in the spare bedroom.

I just slowly got better each day.

I'm not 100%

Still coughing, still a little tight chested but fever, sore throat, headache etc all gone.

Definitely getting my flu jab next year

I know I'm late to the party but I've just had all these symptoms and was positive for covid. My phlegm looked exactly like that, very dark!

not covid for me. I tested positive on a flow flex for influenza. Covid I’ve had a few times and never made me feel as bad as this. Ever.

I did 2 tests both negative.

The GP seemed to think it was either flu or covid.

DD ended up with sinusitis but it appears to be easing. No antibiotics as go says it’s viral as no fever. She’s still coughing too but is eating now.
