Advice re really painful blister on foot WARNING.. GROSS PIC ATTACHED

This blister started on Tuesday due to new boots rubbing. I stupidly popped it on Wednesday morning and lots of puss came out. However, it's now come back with a vengeance. The picture shows half of it as the other half has a compeed plaster on which the pharmacist suggested I put on yesterday. However, it's so bloody painful I am struggling to walk and have to basically walk on the side of my foot on tip toe. I've got two big labs that need walking.

Can anyone suggest anything to speed up the healing process. Also, it's quite warm to the touch so I'm concerned it may be infected. (I had sepsis a few years ago so I'm a little anxious I suppose).

All advice gratefully received 😌

JESUS, that's made my toes curl and I'm a hardened sporner (and proud of it)

You'll be welcomed in sporner corner though, do expect requests for photo updates!

It's still bloody painful today so having to use crutches. I wanted to do a link to my thread on Sporners Corner but I'm a complete luddite. Feel free to add it though and I'll happily post updates 😂

They didn't numb it?! Omg. No. I'd rather give pain without pain relief.

Do you have a wi fit? Or anything like that? Sit on the sofa or a chair in front of the TV and swing your arms like your running whilst looking at the scenery going past. It's not the same, but it's kind of therapeutic and surprisingly hard going after 30 minutes. I think it itches the right part of my brain anyway. I wonder if there are running videos of scenery on YouTube?

I have no real idea but I think your looking at weeks or over a month. Does skin take six weeks to re grow? Then it's going to need to harden up.

Maybe time to invest in one of those seated cycle foot exerciser thingies. Or a husky sled for the dogs!

Watch for Sepsis or skin infections - now that looks really really bad. Antibiotics and watch your temperature. Be super super careful please

Ahh, thank you so much for this suggestion. I've got to do something or else I'll end up spiralling into a state of depression. The scenery suggestion is such a good call - thank you x

Yes, sepsis is my concern, as I had sepsis a few years ago (kicked in the elbow by a horse and ended up lying in a dirty, muddy field for hours!). I'm wondering if, having sepsis in the past, one is more susceptible to it? In any case, the wound is bandaged up, I'm taking flucloxacillin, and not putting weight on the foot, so I'll just have to wait and see how it goes. Thanks for your reply x

I’m a foot surgeon… deroofing a blister is only cutting dead skin away ( but it pulls a bit on the adjacent health tissue) . No pain relief needed.

Huge area though so sore. If you are otherwise healthy it will take about 2 weeks to heal but the skin will be fragile for another few weeks.

no running for a month and even then get some double layer running socks.

mepitel dressings ( silicon to maintain a non stick moist healing environment will be good. Basically dressings suitable for a burn.

That is so very, very helpful, and much appreciated. Thank you so much. Have a good Christmas
