Do you have to watch what you eat after gallbladder removal

My mother had hers removed earlier this year. She's coming for Christmas Dinner and I'm trying to be mindful of her needs.

Will all the rich food be a problem? What will be most detrimental? Is there anything she can take to aid digestion?

I've had mine out and am fine with everything. Probably worth an ask as everyone is different.

Just ask her. I had mine out earlier this year and have been totally fine with everything. If I eat a lot of fatty meals on the trot I can get a bit bloated and uncomfortable. Holland & Barrett do digestive enzymes which I took with meals prior to having the GB out, and that helped. I don't need them now but my GP said some people do find them helpful if they're eating fatty food. Peppermint tea is good to drink if she likes that.

. -You still produce the required digestive enzymes, they just don't get stored in the gall bladder like before. Most people are fine with all foods.

No problems at all post surgery.

You can check with your Mum but should be fine

Ask her, she'll know - or if she wants to risk it for Christmas dinner.

Most people are completely fine, some people have issues with fatty food to greater or lesser degrees.

I am pretty much fine with anything except too much butter or double cream. However I'd still eat trifle at Christmas, just have some Gaviscon later.

Thanks. I will ask her.

Ask her I don’t. Apparently mine wouldn’t have worked in years it was completely knackered when it came out so I didn’t know differently.
