Scarlet fever- 111 call back?

Hello,

My daughter (2) is showing signs of scarlet fever - classic berry tongue, rash all over her body, she's had a temperature for a couple of days and been sick- I thought she had a tummy bug. She's not herself and i had hoped to get a ooh appointment as three of her nursery class have been diagnosed with it this week. I phoned 111 and were waiting for a clinician to phone back - how long do they usually take to phone back for little ones? Has anyone here had any experience?

Just looking for reassurance really as I'm imaging the worst.

I didn't want to seem pushy going straight to a&e - will we get "told off" by 111 for bypassing there service? And thank you for your speedy response!!

You're not bypassing anything, OP, 111 are not a gateway for A&E! They might be able to get you out of hours with a GP and can sometimes help skip a queue at A&E but you absolutely don't have to have contacted them first. If you think she needs to go then take her.

They should, however, call you back pretty quickly - when they didn't with my then 6 week old baby it was because something had gone wrong and we'd slipped off their radar. We found that out when we called back so do chase if you feed the need

Have you had a call back OP or have you a&e'd it? Xx
