Is it a bowl or a few ounces or a cup full or can hDH have it as flapjack

I don't really believe in dietary Cholesterol but I do think Oats have a good effect

I think it's prob a bowl of made-up porridge! DH has high cholesterol and he eats oats (in flapjack form lol) and has soya milk/desserts and beans/pulses which I think are prob the best way to help it. He also has to remove animal fats ie butter and cheese, which is the hardest part! We eat mostly vegetarian now, except at weekends.

I'm not really sure I believe that cutting out cheese/met etc reduces cholesterol that much

What's your DH's score?

I don't think cutting out cheese/animal fats reduces cholesterol - it's the eating of these that raises bad cholesterol, and eating soya/pulses/oats that reduces bad cholesterol.

My dh's cholesterol score was 5.9, then they changed all the scoring and it went up to 6.8, but since we've been doing the pulses/oats/veg and no cheese/cream/animal fats it's gone down to 5.9, still too high (according to them it should be 4-something) but his mum has high cholesterol as well so it's prob hereditary as well.

I read a fascinating article about dietary cholesterol having very little effect on blood cholesterol - but I can't find it now

I think some people just have high cholesterol

I know my dad does along with low BP (just like me)

My grandad did die of heart disease - at 91 brought on by his emphysemia (sp?)

But I am not eating porridge but I might do flapjack

I know some doctors think now that what he eats has little effect on his cholesterol, others think it does. Since dh was diagnosed with high chol his level has gone up and down regardless of what he eats. Anyway I think he wishes he could still eat cheese -its the only thing he misses, really. Everything else (butter/cream/milk/yoghurt) we substitute with soya.
