6 month old wakes up with blue/red shadow under eye..what could it be?

looks like he has been punched!!

no noise of bumps or bashes with monitor

and it is on side he sleeps on..so could it be simply fact he stays squashed on that side of face and this affects blood circulation? under the eye??

anyone? suggestions?

does the bruising last all day? maybe he just has delicate skin. I am sure it is nothing to worry about but if you are concerned, take him to see your gp/hv.

Could he have punched himself or dropped a toy on his face/

Does he rub his eye? The skin is so delicate there and babies seem impervious to self-inflicted pain.

My DD gets this too..her GP said its from their noses being slightly congested there!

oh wow - nose congestion - never thought of that!!
