Why am I so altered from a virus?

The last 6 days I've had a horrible virus or flu (not sure which) - high fever, aches, chills and so forth. It's been so unpleasant but I feel a little better today.

What I am finding difficult though is I've stopped being able to sleep. Surely when you're ill, you should sleep more? I'm getting a few hours a night. I haven't yawned once this evening despite lack of sleep this last week. It's like a form of insomnia. I hate it. Is this normal?

This virus has also made my period arrive 10days early and completely killed my breastmilk supply. My daughter (19mo) is giving up on me and there's nothing there anymore. I feel upset about this.

I just feel so altered by it. Why has this done to my body? Will it ever return to the way it was?

Covid also impacted my periods and my daughters

I have been ill for two weeks, no fever but the insomnia absolutely yes and sleeping helps recovery so it is doing my head in. When I have flu which I have had twice in my life and was the worst thing ever and when I had covid I slept a lot. I could also barely eat with flu and covid whereas I am absolutely starving all the time with this weird virus. It could be flu, covid or a horrendously bad cold. I have never had a cold like the one I have now it is a million times worse than any cold I have ever had.

I have also heard that covid interferes with periods.

Me and my DP have been the exact same all week. Thought it was a virus but unfortunately it's covid. Still wide away watching Benidorm which we've done every bloody night until 3am

Same here! Thought it was the medication I'm on but now wondering if this virus is partially to blame for being wide awake all night 😩
