Short Illness

I have been reading a lot recently about people dying from a short illness . What sort of illness could it be ?

Cancer, infection, heart failure.

The type of cancer DH had usually kills people in a few weeks, it was one of the 'silent' cancers, no symptoms until it's too late so cancer can definitely be a 'short illness'.
