Can someone tell me the rough value of an nhs voucher for specs??

Just back from the optician and they gave me a yellow GOS3 form but not got a clue what it entitles me too! Like two pairs of specs but can't work out how much I get off with this voucher....anyone know? Thanks

Which type of voucher is it? There will be a letter on it (A, B, C etc) which determines the value of the voucher.

It's 34.60 for a voucher A, 52.60 for a voucher B.

It's A, does the amount off include the lenses and the frames? Or is that towards a frame?

It's towards the whole cost. Shop around though, at the opticians I work at we throw in basic, standard lenses for free if you have a voucher.

Depends what you want. Are they distance glasses?

Will you been seen in them iykwim? If they are just for close stuff or tv I wouldn't spend a lot I am on mat leave from opticians but they do complete price from £25 upwards ok they aren't nice but if you can afford to put maybe £0 towards them you can get some nice ones

I think Boots have the two for offer on at the moment which might help if you want 2 pairs.

Some companies don't allow you to get both offers. They will only allow you to use voucher towards first pair.

Yes, but I am very petite so I found some lovely Karen Millen ones (want something funky instead of boring plain kids specs) in vision express. I have a grand advantage discount card so they better let me use that as well as my nhs voucher, I paid £25 to join! If so then I should get them for around the same as I'd pay for kiddies glasses.

They do £80 off a second pair so I might get two, a nice funky pair and something a bit more sophisticated for going out etc. (dp gets a nice big bonus soon ) I wear them all the time so want something a bit more 'adult', as I am almost 25 so need to look all grown up and responsible LOL!!!!

sometimes you can get petite ones or teenage range and teenage designer ones are cheaper

Oooo, does that mean I'll get lenses thrown in as well? I usually get the anti-glare coating so I know I'd have to pay for this.

They didn't have anything that nice in the teenage range, I was actually really pleased to see so many petite styles in the adult range as they do look nicer.
