Does anyone else have this and who do you use / what does it cover?
We have cover with Benenden which is pretty basic, and cheap (£12 a month) but it is good as it is for people with pre-existing conditions and it doesn't matter what age you are it is still the same price.
It covers routine surgery such as gallbladder removal, hernias, cataract surgery (I think) I have used it in the past for varicose veins laser surgery as that was not available on the NHS. This is if the wait on the NHS is over 5 weeks
It also covers diagnostics, referrals and scans etc if the wait it over 3 weeks (so you are expected to try the NHS first)
More recently I have used it for an ultrasound when the waiting time for the NHS was 16 weeks, and for a follow up MRI scan which was 18 weeks on the NHS. I have got this next week but otherwise would still have been waiting for the ultrasound.
I think it is really worth having right now, even if it doesn't cover things like cancer or heart disease treatment (so keeps the cost low) as it speeds things up in general.
