Awful cough at night, does anything help?!

DD and I both have some kind of virus going on, congestion/temperature etc.

The coughing is so bad at night, mainly when trying to get to sleep. We’re taking Sudafed to dry everything up but it doesn’t seem to do much.

Does anything actually work for a chronic nighttime cough?

Propping yourself up extra pillows is supposed to help and I also put Vicks on the soles of my feet. Hope you feel better soon.

Codeine suppresses coughs so you could try taking cocodamol before bed.

Steam inhalation.

hot drinks with honey in help soothe the throat.

Sympathies!

Is it chesty or more of an irritated cough? I get lingering night time coughs which is caused by post nasal drip. The only thing that’s worked for me properly is a saline nasal wash to clear everything out. If it’s really bad I do that layered with Sudafed up the nose and antihistamines.

If it's not a mucus cough then try pholcodeine linctus.

Boots sell medicine with pholcodine.

I've got the same cough, worse at night. I found that taking Ibuprofen has helped to stop it. Good luck 🥰

I think it’s post nasal drip.
not coughing that much in the day tbh.

it’s so annoying! I will try some of the suggestions.

A chopped up onion in your bedroom really works. Smells, but it works.

Vicks on the soles of your feet, then socks on.

Prop yourself up of lots of pillows.

Spoonful of honey just before bed.
