Headaches every day?

I've been getting headaches near enough everyday for quite a while now and paracetamol doesn't help. I have got a GP appointment soon however it could have something to do with eye strain as it worsens when i'm on my phone or watching tv

Do opticians give glasses for eye strain?

Well, they prescribe glasses if you need glasses, and that might reduce the headaches that you're getting. When did you have last have your eyes tested?

I used to have daily (constant) headaches. Turns out I clench my teeth when I sleep. My dentist made a custom hard splint for me to wear while I sleep, and the headaches have gone. It’s amazing. It might be worth speaking to your dentist too!

Oh wow that's great! That's a good shout actually I didn't think of that

It would be a good idea to have an eye test then. I think you'll have to pay for one (~£20?), but they're important to pick up any health and vision issues.

Yep that's true, I actually get free eye tests in my workplace so there's no harm in getting them checked :)

My headaches were caused by high blood pressure. But yes you need an eye test.

3beesinmybonnet · 08/12/2022 20:52

I thought regular headaches were normal until a healthcheck revealed high blood pressure. Ive had one very mild headache since I started taking meds 12 months ago. So Id get your blood pressure checked if I were you.

Ah I have high blood pressure too so that might be why

Get an eye test as a first port of call!

eurochick · 09/12/2022 07:13

Well yes, opticians prescribe glasses if you are straining your eyes because you can't see!

Get your eyes tested in the first instance. If nothing else it should be easier than getting a GP appointment!

underneaththeash · 09/12/2022 07:49

It may well be your eyes, but we're quite good at working out other causes of headaches too and many conditions cause characteristic changes at the back of the eye.

Crikeyalmighty · 09/12/2022 16:20

Mine was a combination it seems of very high blood pressure (now medicated) plus huge eye strain by not wearing glasses and one eye much much worse than other causing even more strain
