Hi everyone. Any advice would be really appreciated as I am panicking a bit here. Sorry if this ends up quite long.

I always get hormonal breast pain before/during my periods, however last month the pain started when my period ended. This was in the right breast at the sides and underneath. I didn't worry at first as I thought this must be either weird hormones or a badly fitting bra. This pain has lasted 2 weeks now, seemed to ease off for the first time yesterday but I woke up today feeling the pain intensely in one area and when I touched it I could feel a lump, but only when lying down on my left side.

I had this breast checked in October as I had a cyst in a totally different area so I'm hoping they'd have felt something if there was anything to worry about. I know people say not to worry about pain but (trigger warning) my auntie had a lump, scanned and told benign, then 3 months later was waking up with pain and turned out to be BC. She's totally fine now but this is playing on my mind and freaking me out.

My last cyst didn't hurt at all, was absolutely huge and appeared overnight which made it quite obvious to me that it was a cyst. Has anyone got experience of a painful cyst to share please? I'm 29yo. I am so tired of being worried and anxious about BC all the time 😔 thank you in advance x x

Also just to note the lump doesn't feel small and round, I think it feels long and kind of ropey? But I can't tell really because it's all so sore/swollen/lumpy feeling 😔

Didn't want to read and run. Handhold OP. If it helps I had something similar, went to the gp and was freaked out when they referred me on the 2 week wait pathway!

I'm v lucky to have private medical so booked in to the local private hospital's one stop breast clinic - turned out to be an abscess. Loads of antibiotics and a needle drain later and it's all gone.

Do get it looked at.

I have been on the two week wait a handful of times over the last couple of years as new cysts keep appearing and have to be checked out... but all fine. I mentioned to my GP that I thought that only around 1 or 2 in 10 lumps that GP's saw were cancerous and he said in his experience it was more like 1 in a 100! Please don't worry but checked out.

I had this a couple of weeks ago. I had sharp pains and GP said there was a lump there although I couldn't feel one myself as it was too sore. I was referred for an ultrasound and it was just a gland

CherryBlossom38 · 08/12/2022 10:02

Thank you so so so much @QueenMabby @maskersanonymous @Longbin - you have made me feel lots better already 💖

I tried to get GP appt this morning but they didn't have any, told me to call 111 to get one of the "reserved" appts at GP so I now have a phone consultation with my GP this afternoon. @maskersanonymous you have made me feel a lot better too by saying you had to go back a few times - I was feeling really silly going back again so soon after October or that they might get mad that I was wasting their time or something. Glad to know it's normal with cysts that you do need regular appointments! Hoping that is all this is...or an abcess like QueenMabby says.

Thank you all again 💖💖💖 hope you are all well and have a lovely day! X

Regards keep going back, the (very senior) consultant was very clear that I wasn't to feel silly to keep going in each time/assume each lump was a cyst. It was very, very likely to be a cysts but I was to go to the GP each time I felt a new one as they needed to check.

Thank you @maskersanonymous , managed to get a GP phone consultation this afternoon and nipped in for an examination - he didn't seem too bothered but after I explained the recent cyst (and the huge amount of pain I am in!!) He agreed to do the referral. Very grateful for the NHS and how quick this process is ❤ x

Wandered how u got on op

CherryBlossom38 · 28/09/2023 11:55

Hi @Bex4567 , sorry I should have provided an update! Scans all came back fine, they couldn't explain why I was having pain and told me to monitor it and eventually it just went away randomly!

Funnily enough I have actually been worrying this morning about another lump in that breast that I've had for ages, I think they've checked that one before but it makes me feel ill every time I feel it in the shower as it feels quite hard 😔 don't want to waste their time and get it checked again if it's OK so considering a private ultrasound. Hate having lots of lumps and bumps to worry about!! Hope you are ok x

CherryBlossom38 · 28/09/2023 19:53

Ah I hope you're ok @Bex4567 ! Could it be hormonal? If it carries on I'd have a quick chat with the GP to put your mind at ease x
