MRI scans

Does anyone know if you have an MRI scan for a specific area (e.g. liver) if stuff shows up on the scan in other areas do they let you know? Thanks

I've had a couple of MRIs on my brain and the top of my spine. I think they are very specific and only scan the area they are looking at, due to the expense of the procedure. They wouldn't scan your whole body if they were just looking at one part.
