Hi,
Long story short in September I went to the emergency dentist with a toothache in one of my back teeth. He x-rayed & gave a temporary filling - said it was close to needing root canal. All pain stopped.
I finally managed to get an nhs appt a month later who x-rayed and said the same thing. She said to come back in 3 weeks for a filling. In this time I started to experience pain again...
Went back 3 weeks later. Numbs me up and starts drilling out the temporary filling. Then I suddenly get the WORST pain ever. She says oh is that part sensitive sorry that's where the deepest part of the cavity is... then she says oh wait there's puss there, hang on you need a root canal...
She said something was too sensitive and something needs to be calmed down so she fills it all up with something that tasted FILTH for about 3-4 days, not sure what it was. She sent me away with 5 days of antibiotics and was told to come back in 2 weeks. I've had niggling pains on and off since.
My next appointment is tomorrow and tonight I've been getting awful pain again. Like a throbbing pain that feels like sometimes it's all over the right side of my jaw and my face & ear.
I'm freaking out now that tomorrow is now going to be super painful again and she's not going to be able to do anything? If I've had antibiotics should the infection not have gone? Or is it normal for pain seeing as I do need root canal? But then why am I getting pain if the tooth is filled?
Can anyone help that knows anything about teeth. 28 and never had root canal or a filling before, this is all new to me! Reading all these scary stories of tooth infections causing sepsis and getting freaked out!
