Hi everyone, i haven't posted on here before but I always search Mumsnet if I want to find anything out about the kids so I hope someone can help!!
I had noticed over the last few months DS (6) was saying "what" a lot especially if there were other things going on (in the car etc). Took him for an audiology appt and the audiogram showed he has moderate hearing loss at 3000hz frequency. His hearing is within normal range 0-20 for most other frequencies (although in the left ear it is also slightly low for 2000hz). His higher frequencies are then fine (4000hz and above).
Audiologist didn't really explain anything to me but I am now so, so worried. what does this mean? Audiologist said DS prob wouldn't need hearing aids as it was very minor. he said if he had only tested the main indicators it wouldn't have been spotted at all (they don't normally test 3,000hz but he did on this occasion apparently). But what could have caused this and I suppose really, will it get worse? is he going to end up completely deaf?? I am so frightened for him. Also, could this be a processing thing rather than hearing loss (i assume not but thought I would ask), as he also has dyslexic traits and low working memory.
I have looked on the internet but cant find much about a result like his.
Please if anyone has any experience on this sort of thing any advice would be appreciated.
