Horrible cold Asthma??

Hello all,

I’ve had a horrible cold which left me struggling to breathe because I kept having coughing fits and wheezing. Saw OOH doctor who said I most certainly have asthma and prescribed me a blue inhaler and steroids. I’ve taken two lots of the steroids (30g once a day). I’ve used the inhaler when needed to. I’ve got another three days of the steroids but nothings changed really. I know I am impatient but the wheezing and coughing is driving me mad!

i did a peak flow with the doctor and the best was 250. They said that was concerning. I’ve always “passed” them before.

I’ve ordered a peak flow thing myself but it won’t come till tomorrow. Best to keep an eye on that I am guessing?

What do I do about asthma? Keep a record of the peak flow? Anything else to keep track of before seeing the GP in the new year?

Slightly different because I'm guessing - you're older than my DS who is 7.. haha!
We are currently doing a diary - along with a blue inhaler and a peak flow. We have to do this for 2 weeks, morning and evening.
Inhaler if and when needed also.
It would be a good idea to do a diary for a couple of weeks yes, just to show them so they get an idea as to what's going on and how you're reacting to the inhaler. As you may need another inhaler too.
Also make note of what you're doing at the time.. which we've been asked to do. Mainly finding running about/P.E/being outside in the cold is setting off my DSs x
