Looking for a bit of hope I suppose.

I got diagnosed in august... I'd had an outbreak in April but didn't know what it was.

I've got a vague idea where it come from but hard to say due to the dormant/latent stages

Outbreaks have been April. August. October. And again Saturday morning. This is the first time I haven't felt shattered. I had been taking lysine and for the last week I haven't so maybe need to keep on with that.

I have three rounds of acyclovir which I haven't taken (took one dose after being given it at the clinic in august). I got some lomaherpan cream and I've also trialled using arnica on this outbreak.

Am I just going to have continuous outbreaks? Is there anything else I can do?

I know it's cold sores on my house and it's carried by two thirds of people and most don't know and all the other data out there ... but it's a huge stigma still and people are generally uneducated (I was! Thought my world was ending!)

Just looking for someone who's been in a similar situation and can offer any advice.

You're all so right.

I think I've almost pretended it's not that - I did think - I could try and act surprised but I can't lie (she says after being pretty sure I've had it)

We'll go with. I'm ok at avoiding the truth but I can't bare face lie. So I think I might say I've been worried I've had it. And I've recently been googling (which I have) and had a mirror down there. And without being a doctor I think I can confirm I have a cluster of blister. Why is it sooooo embarrassing and mortifying!!

The exercising pain I can totally relate to!! I feel like I've had that for about 10 days. Then the blisters. Now the nerve pain is sooo intense. I was beginning to think It had something associated/ caused by it

How AMAZING is this forum though. Imagine going through this alone !

🥰

There is sooo much stigma on it. It's basically a cold sore on your arse (in my case). I was really upset when I was diagnosed. My partner was like "better than on your face where everyone can look at it". Well yeah it's easier to hide than a cold sore but everyone thinks it's dirty!!

I've had four outbreaks since last April but I always feel like one is imminent. I think it's because I know the symptoms now. I take lysine capsules and I have a cream I got off the herpes association website (Loma her pan £6). I also ordered some meds online as it meant I didn't have to see a doctor (oh the shame) and I had them on hand if I had an outbreak I couldn't manage or needed to get rid of quick. I got three months for about £27 off medexpress. I haven't used them yet (touch wood) as I'm trying to get my body to build an immunity to it.

I should add I got tested at the local gum clinic. I obviously didn't just order meds.

The lady said she sees someone at least once a week with herpes. Who'd have known.

Well I've done the same. I've ordered some aviclyor (that's not spelt correctly)
But haven't taken it because I thought I'd see if it would go quick.

I'm annoyed as Ive had maybe 3 flares in 7 years. Everywhere says it gets better with time. I feel like this one was the worse I've had ...

I have been poorly over christmas so I wonder if that's why it's worse.

So I'm definitely going to go on this website. I did put cold sore cream on them. (Half of google absolutely says no and some say it's the same ingredients they prescribe in a cream)

Should really stop diagnosing and prescribing myself. But just can't bring myself to go to the doctors... I'm going to have to I think if these flares become worse.

My leg / bum / vag nerve pain is awful xx

I think you should go and get diagnosed either way. You need to go while the sores are open so they can swab but if you explain that on the phone they'll get you in quick.

Have a read on the website. Forums. Tiktok (#herpes you'll be suprised at the detail!). Trial and error of what will work for you.

Xx

Omg. TikTok are on Herpes too. I feel like this is untapped world.

I think there's a gap in the market.... I'm going to manufacture some Herpes Bath Bombs 😂

(Everyone buying them in balaclavas)

😂😂

Gotta laugh else I'll cry. My poor husband too. I really hope this is a cold and not me infecting him x

Not sure about the bath bombs but put some salt in your bath... will dry your sores out and help them heal quicker

Weirdly without reading about the salt in the bath I did this the first day.

Im going to do it again tonight I think im day 4 now.

Probably too late to be swabbed. But I think I know the warning signs a bit more now.

Came pretty much the same day as my period !

mommatoone · 09/02/2023 22:45

Dunno about anyone else but the way i feel, say a week before a breakout is worse than the breakout itself. Honestly, sometimes im in bed for days before hand its awful. Thats another reason why i dont take aclivoir because i start to feel better once they come out. Sorry to hear theres loads ofpeople going through similar. Its shit.
