GP Yearly Medication Check

Are GPs delayed with doing these/not doing them anymore? In particular from googling, blood pressure medication should be checked yearly. My mother is over 60 and has not been invited yet?

Ime yes. My asthma review is overdue but no appointments available. Some pharmacies seem to be doing reviews on gp behalf, as dm had one by phone recently.

I am 61 and go to have a blood test and blood pressure taken each year with a nurse, I did have check ups 2020, 2021 and again this year. They ring if there’s anything that needs following up. Nurses at our GP surgery also deal with blood pressure, diabetes and cholesterol medication. It’s easier to get a nurses appointment, I just say I want bloods taken and an annual check up.

@Mindymomo do your GP's contact you to arrange or do you have to organise yourself please?

My medication review was due in May - nothing.

My thyroid disease review? Never had one. Don't even get an annual blood test unless I specifically ask.

In 2018, I was diagnosed with a serious heart condition that my surgery have completely ignored.

I think in this area GP services have completely broken down.

Ive been asked to take my own bp and send it to the surgery

I get a note when I pick up my repeat prescription reminding me when a review is due.

I never actually look at the bit of paper stapled to the bag so had been missing the notes. It's worth checking if you're being invited to make an appointment to n an equally o secure way.

Equally obscure, I meant to say

Namechange1377 · 05/12/2022 16:27

Ah, ok, so it seems pretty 50/50 then!

I've had two medication checks this year, an online asthma check and weight, height and blood test this week.

My GP puts a note on my repeat prescription when its due - I very rarely look at it when I pick it up, so took me a while to notice 🤦‍♀️
