Hi, please help talk me down. I have health anxiety brought on by my mums death a couple of years ago and right now it's crippling me. My husband is on antibiotics and he's just been sick, I'm guessing the two things are linked as he had his last pill tonight quite late and not with food. He's been ill with a respiratory tract infection and been on the antibiotics a few days, he's not left the house in a week.
I woke up and heard him being sick, this has now triggered full body shakes in me and sweating . I have taken a propranolol tablet but it doesn't seemed to have done much. I need an anxiety poo but don't want to use the bathroom (we only have one) and am starting to feel sick .
Logically I know it's OK, it's only sick and if it is a bug then it will pass, but this whole body reaction is absolutely flooring me

Anxiety is horrible. Give your husband a bucket in case he needs to vomit while you are on the loo -have your anxiety poo. Chances are wanting to poo and not doing so, are upsetting your autonomic nervous system (I think that’s the nervous system involved) , thus increasing the symptoms of anxiety. It’s not unusual for anxiety to increase in the early stages of flu or a cold etc. Steady slow breaths, let your muscles relax, and a glass of cold water help me when anxious. If your stomach is upset, a cold fizzy sweet drink slipped slowly might help, if you have any in the house. And remember, you aren’t going to die even if it feels like it.

Been there done that on and off over the years OP, and anxiety has not killed me yet - even though sometimes it feels like it will. This too shall pass.

@Morestrangethings Thank you so much for your reply. I've just been to the toilet and am feeling a bit better.
Thank you

👍Anxietyis an awful feeling, but remember you are not alone. It helps to know heaps of us suffer it, although we all wish no one did. You will feel even better soon.
