So I had to go for a liver ultrasound based on some bloods done back in September, (letter just arrived in post to go, no explanation and mention of bloods being out of whack,) so had to ring up consultant and find out why, 3 emails and a phone call later I get an answer ..

Anyways went for the ultrasound last Tue week and have been emailing and calling since Wednesday this week to see if any result, no reply to emails and no answering phone... Is this a really bad service or does it sound about right, I'm in Ireland and private healthcare by the way, if it makes any difference...

Hello,

I had an abdominal ultrasound about two weeks ago. The sonographer told me he would write to my doctor, and I should call the GP for results seven days after the test. I contacted the surgery eight days later and received a text saying the results were not available yet and it may take 'several weeks' .

I also had a CT scan at the end of last week and was told there is a 4-6 week waiting list for results.

I assume that of there was anything very serious found on the scans, I would have been contacted within 48 hours of the test. However, I have also known test results to go missing or never materialise.

These are NHS scans in England, so I sort of expect a long wait for results. If I was a private patient, I would expect a much quicker and responsive service.
