Can anyone please reassure me that this is not a blood clot?

I have health anxiety and a particularly bad fear of blood clots. I currently have a weird sensation at the back of my left knee. If I press on the area it feels bruised but not on the surface, sort of deeper inside in between the two tendons on either side. I have a similar sensation on the side of the knee as well. Knee feels off but I don't know how to describe the exact sensation. There's no obvious swelling or throbbing sensation and I'm not particularly short of breath. I've had a feeling of my veins around my thighs and knees being bruised before and not really sure why. My anxiety is extremely high at the moment due to recent illness. I'm trying to rationalise but it's not working. Can anyone help?

It probably feels sore because you keep prodding it

It's almost certainly not a blood clot.

Go on 111 website 111.nhs.uk

Going on 111 is not a good idea for me. I ended up in A&E last week because I called them with a query about medication and they sent me to A&E.

Sorry, posted too soon. The resulting traumatic experience I had at a&e has made my anxiety worse than it's been for an very long time.

Dr has prescribed me propranolol but I'm scared to take it in case I faint (I have low blood pressure).

Nobody can tell you that you don't have a blood clot. It's interesting that you want random strangers to give you the all clear but you won't take medication, to help you, which is prescribed by a medic. Please call 111, whether you need help with your knee or your anxiety, you need to talk to someone.

@softpilllow I understand what you're saying but anxiety isn't rational. I'm trying to rationalise but struggling. The thought of unnecessarily being sent to A&E again by 111 is too much for me to deal with at the moment.

It's unlikely unless it's red, hot, swollen on a logical level.

Propranolol will be fine if your sitting down not rushing around. If your that anxious it will do more good than possible harm.

@IncessantNameChanger thanks for the reassurance. I am going to try the propranolol after my dc are asleep I think.

If we "reassure" you that just teaches your brain that it was right to panic and feeds the anxiety. It's better to sit with the discomfort.
