Worried about my bowel movements

I posted the other day about me possibly having some kind of bug/food poisoning as I was suffering with cramps and Diarrhoea. It continued Saturday, a little bit on Sunday, and yesterday it seemed to go. This morning I have woke up with cramps again and a really strong urgency to go. The Diarrhoea has started up again and really sorry for the tmi, but noticed there seemed to be a bit of black mixed in. Is this worrying and do I need to phone the gp?

I'd suggest calling the doctor. Black poo can indicate bleeding in your digestive system. Good luck

Iwannabeadog · 29/11/2022 07:27

Yes to contact GP. Definitely mention the black as this should be investigated. Don’t panic but be persistent. Take care

Justwingingitox · 29/11/2022 07:33

Yes call the GP.
Black stool isn't ideal. Please don't panic though. It could be as simple as a little infection that can be treated easily.

Did you take pepto bismol for the cramps? That can cause back poo.

FoxyBloxy · 29/11/2022 08:15

@User478 No I didn’t

Phoned the gp, there are no appointments left today so I have to phone back tomorrow morning. Thanks everyone

Do yours have a lunch break that they're closed for? Our DRs are a nightmare to get in to see but I sometimes call back at 2pm after their lunch to see if they have any cancellations or emergency appts if it can't really wait x

FoxyBloxy · 29/11/2022 10:14

@Justwingingitox I think they close 1-2. I’ve not heard of doing that but then again I’ve never tried so it’s worth a go. Thank you x

How are you feeling now? If your poo goes black (rather than just black bits), please get seen ASAP. Are you by yourself? It might be worth calling 111 for advice. I hope you're OK.
