Anyone had one of these and can tell me what to expect?

I've had ongoing issues with asthma/breathing and after a recent stay in hospital I've been referred to the respiratory team.

I had that in a hospital some years ago. Can't remember much detail but mostly it was breathing into bits of apparatus. One test was very disconcerting as I was sat in an airtight box with a mouthpiece. I had to breathe normally through the mouthpiece but every so often they shut off the air for a nanosecond. It was not pleasant, although the box was transparent and I could see the medical staff outside it. Everything else was fine to do.

Hello,

I had a spirometry test just over a week ago. It was administered by a practitioner at the doctor's surgery, but the results have to be interpreted by someone else, so I don't know what, if anything, they found.

It was pretty simple: put on a nose clip, exhale into a tube attached to the spirometry reader. Repeat a few times. Do some short puffs. Take an inhaler, wait for twenty minutes and then repeat the tests.

They were testing for COPD in my case.
