Completely blocked for 2 weeks.

Spray beconase for 7 days started to
Feel better nose was clearer on day 3/4.

With dinner on sat i had a glass
Of wine (stupid I know) and woke up yesterday
Morning with all Symptoms back again like slight blocked nose and pain around eyes ! Took usual dose yesterday and today is last day of antibiotics I still feel some pressure by nose and headachy but I feel the congestion has gone. Should I ask for more antibiotics or try nasal rinsing etc
Thanks

Try saline spray for rinsing

Not sure what the connection is with the wine.

Hope it improves soon- it's horrible

I've needed 2-3 courses of antibiotics in the past with severe sinusitis.

I don't think you should ask for more antibiotics, but I think you should go back to the gp, say it initially helped, but is now worsening again, and see what they suggest as a next step.

If sinusitis doesn't get better by end of antibiotics course ime usually means its viral so another course won't necessarily help.

Justwingingitox · 28/11/2022 11:51

Bit of a random throw out there question, have you got any dental problems? I know that can cause sinus problems.

Failing that, go back to the GP. It could be that it is just in fact viral and that's why the antibiotics didn't work.. but a GP needs to determine this really.
I wouldn't leave it as you are now without further reassurance. If there IS an underlying infection there.. I was fobbed off with a severe bout of sinusitis for months when I was pregnant with my eldest. It then lead to pneumonia and then sepsis.
Hope you feel better soon!! X

I had a friend with regular sinus issues that was caused by an allergy to wine (sorry)

getmesomewater · 28/11/2022 23:00

I have bought a nelimed nasal rinse bottle today tried it nothing came out my nose sorry tmi!
I will give it a few more days to see if it improves or gets worse as I can feel the pressure in my nose. I'm defo not allergic to wine 🍷
One thing that I'm looking forward too once I start to feel better lol
I will try also steaming etc
Thankyou to all replies xx

My experience is light symptoms can linger for days and sometimes weeks after finishing the antibiotics. Netipot is good even if you're still so stuffed the water doesn't get through to the other nostril. I'd also very much recommend getting an infrared therapy lamp - they help dry out the sinuses. Use at least once, better twice daily for 15 minutes.

The wine will have given you a histamine response hence your nose became blocked again.
Are you peri menopausal age by any chance too?

I've had for the last 18 months and have been on avamys spray which keeps symptoms at bay but not cured. I can now drink alcohol with no effect on my sinuses.

Started the day after my first Covid vax oddly.
