I had an ankle fusion two weeks ago today.

A few days ago I had the backslab plaster removed and was put into an aicast boot (still non-weight bearing for the next 6 weeks). Was surprised to have a boot, as I'd been told a full plaster cast.

I've had pain, particularly in my toes and heel, since then, especially overnight.

I got DH to look at my heel (not able to see myself) and the skin has macerated, as if it's been in water. Same with toes.

The boot does get wet. I've been told to wear a sock with it and the sock is getting wet to. I have been told I can't take it off except to wash leg, but tonight I opened it to dry, whilst my leg was propped up.

I'm wondering if I should contact the plaster room tomorrow (surgeon is on leave now).

I've included some photos. My mum says the top scar looks 'tight' which has worried me.

I would give them a call for advice.

Put some barrier cream on that heel and provide a layer between the boot and your heel. Then call plaster room for advice on the rest.
