Can some one help me please. I can’t get hold of my cardiologist. The ‘cancer’ bit and the ‘very small focus of enhancement in basal cavity’ has worried me.

IMO I think the sentence containing “clinical significance cancer’ could actually be a misunderstanding by the secretary to the dictation. It isn’t grammatically correct. I wonder if what was actually dictated was “clinical significant CONCERN’.
If I were you I would ask for clarification of this, either through your GP, but I would personally ring the Cardiac Consultant’s PA and ask them to pass the request to the Consultant.

Normal biventricular function means your heart is beating normally, at normal strength and is able to pump the appropriate volume of blood out at each beat.

I agree with the PP that you should get the wording clarified as it doesn’t really make sense.

essentially they’re not worried but will follow you up next year just in case.
I know it’s worrying to have scans and stuff on your heart but try to be reassured xx

It's normal and I suspect that cancer is a typo by the secretary.

Not least because if they thought it was cancer, you would be back before next year.

passport123 · 23/11/2022 11:11

Looks like a typo but I would just email the department where it was done to double check.

Toddlerteaplease · 23/11/2022 11:19

I think they are saying that they don't think it's of clinical significance and not cancer.

Toddlerteaplease · 23/11/2022 11:20

Bit please get I touch with the secretary as that has clearly distressed you as it would most people with no medical knowledge!

MissD92 · 23/11/2022 18:55

Phoned the Doctors and the receptionist just repeated what was on the letter 😤 and said well I’m sure if it’s important the doctor will call you. That doesn’t help someone like me with health anxiety suffering daily PVCS x

Other than the typo it’s a very reassuring MRI. Ejection fraction of 63% is fab. We all have PVCs every day, it’s very normal.

HairyKitty · 23/11/2022 21:06

Receptionists answer isn’t good enough. The letter doesn’t make sense, she needs to ask the consultant who wrote it and get back to you.
Looks to me like one of those “delete the irrelevant sections letters”, and they forgot to remove the word “cancer” from yours ie cancer goes in some peoples letters but was never intended to go in yours?
