Is this thrush?

Yesterday evening I started to feel soreness and burning around my vagina and took a look in the mirror and it all seemed very red.

Overnight I had itching and soreness and the redness is still there. No change in discharge though and I can't think what's triggered it except that I wore leggings yesterday.

Does this sound like thrush or something else? I always assumed thrush involved lots of discharge and I don't have that.

May be worth a call to your GP. Could have an infection then such as BV or something. X

Justwingingitox · 23/11/2022 09:54

Sorry, I meant to add.. you don't necessarily have to have to common symptoms to have an infection going on. Xx

GinAllAround · 23/11/2022 12:43

I don't think it's BV as there's no smell but I'll give the GP a call. I know thrush can be treated with one capsule these days rather than creams.

Hope you manage to get it sorted one way or another. Must be uncomfortable. X

Have you tried new sanitary products or bath products?

GinAllAround · 23/11/2022 13:15

No, not tried anything new @girlmom21 and I've not changed laundry detergent recently either.

@GinAllAround I'd suggest going to the sexual health clinic if you have one close by, they can give same day results whereas the GP can take up to a week! If that's too much of a hassle go the pharmacy and get a fluconazole tablet and see if your symptoms improve - if they do it is probably thrush and the tablet should clear it up in a couple of days!

GinAllAround · 23/11/2022 17:24

I've now taken fluconazole so am hoping that sorts it. I also got my period today so don't really fancy being examined by the GP!

I have something very similar and I was prescribed steroid cream with an antifungal in. It was incredibly painful, I found eurax anti itch cream helped too

GinAllAround · 24/11/2022 20:24

The fluconazole is yet to take effect and I'd heard it worked overnight 😭

Did it work in the end? Or did you need to get other treatment?
