I've been ill for a few weeks with a completely blocked nose, nothing is working steroid nasal spray efc so I thought I've got a sinus infection. Went online looked up what to take for sinus infection found I had some old antibiotics Augmentin for a previous uti I never took for.
So stupidly I took one before my lunch and a few hours later bam TMI it was pouring out of me both ends and just throwing up bile now.
They are not expired on the packet but I've read that they can go off ?
I'm so stupid I have children too look after and I feel terrible.
What can I take to help nausea n pain ?
I'm only sipping water

My DH cannot take certain antibiotics, but hopefully as you’ve only taken one the side effects shouldn’t last too long. But of course it may not be the antibiotics and you have a dose of norovirus which is doing it’s round at the moment.

Oh poor you, it may not ne the augmentin, can you tolerate herbal tea, flat cola, paracetomol. Is anyone else affected in case its a virus. How old are the dc, can someone come and help you.

Diarrhoea, vomiting and nausea are common side effects of augmentin. If it continues call 111 who may prescribe you an anti sickness and you might need medical advice about your blocked nose, have you tried steam instead of sprays which often just dry it up and make things worse.

One should not be taking antibiotics prescribed for previous infections of a different part of the body to treat a current infection.
Antibiotics need to be taken with great care and with a proper prescription, for the full course.
Antibiotics are so precious, and careless use is already causing resistant bacterial strains to develop. A world where effective antibiotics have been exhausted is the stuff of nightmares.

Thanks for all replies. I haven't been sick or the other one 🙈 for about 2 hours now. I am sipping water too. I would love some lucozade can that make things worse ?
I have some flat coke too.
I may try some toast later. I am ringing the doctors again on Monday for some possible antibiotics as I'm bringing up really discoloured phlegm from my nose and chest and the nasal spray avamys hasn't done Jack for the congestion.

I understand some comments about the stupidity of taking the old antibiotics, it's a weekend and I was desperate not wanting to ring anyone or go anywhere. But now I've paid the price& will never ever do it again!!
My partner who works away has now returned to help with the children 🙃

Dont beat yourself up, you would have been the same if you had taken them for a uti and they are in date, tell your gp so they dont prescribe them for your chest. Dont bother with the spray, I would try holding your face over steamy water to loosen it all up.

I hope you get better soon, at least you know that type of antibiotics doesn’t suit you, don’t beat yourself up.

Augmentin gives me terrible nausea and diarrhoea, I can't tolerate it at all, although I'm fine with amoxicillin so I think it must be the clavulanic acid element
