Dermatology 2week referral

Can anyone tell me what happens at a dermatology appointment?

I have this weird lump/mole thing on my head and my GP referred me under the 2 week wait thing.

Will they just check my head or all other moles?

They might be all different but I had an appt for a weird mole and the consultant checked (albeit quick) some others - not all over my body, just some she could see. I guess she was seeing what my other moles were like for comparison.

They might check all over. Mine did in my first appointment. I was then told to come back for a biopsy. Mine was a few weeks later but it depends on what they think it is.

I had a weird lump definitely not a mole. They only looked at that one lump took some photos and I went back a few weeks later to have it removed.

In the summer, my mum was referred for some suspicious scabs on her face. When she went, she saw a woman who took close up and deep skin photos that then got sent off to be reviewed.
About 8 years ago, I was referred for a mole which the gp believed (correctly) to be benign. When I saw the dermatologist, he confirmed it was benign and lasered it off and sent to be biopsied which they do for all tissue removal. I asked him to check my other 352 moles which he reluctantly and ungraciously did. 😄

So two different methods. I don't know if the latest method was because of cost or just more effective for mums issues.

Yes, my mum had two areas to look at. They would only take pictures of those two areas. She said she wasn't allowed to take anything else other than those two areas even if it had occurred since the referral.
