My Dad lives in Australia and apparently everyone swears by it over there.... you can read about it here
I think it's really interesting and am seriously considering getting some....

Its awesome stuff in all viral and bacterial problems - can really help in cases of meningitis too.

OnZephyrstdayofXmas · 02/12/2004 20:26

would you recommend getting some and taking it regularly?

Its more to use instead of an antibiotic or used topically for fungal probs, wounds etc. If you use it long term it can cause imbalance in the gut flora and therefore you would need probiotics too. There are some good guidelines in the website you mentioned. Do you have a particular health issue you want to treat?

Just general colds and stuff that I always seem to have - thats what started my Dad talking about it. I see what you mean about upsetting the balance by taking it all the time as there are obviously some things that you need in you that would be killed off by the silver. I just wanted a second opinion before getting some really rather than just my Dad saying Get some now!!!

For colds etc I would use echinacea with golden seal two weeks on and two weeks off and save the colloidal silver for when you get sick. 1,000mg vit c a day can also help.

thanks naturedoc. Would it have any kind of effect on psoriasis? (dp has a little patch on his elbow)

naturedoc, would colloidal silver help warts? My ds has quite a few and they have been burnt off once but have unfortunately returned?

NatureDoc · 06/12/2004 22:01

There is no known sure for psoriasis but applying colloidal silver topically to a small patch can really help - there is a spray called Salcura Intensive that has colloidal silver in it www.salcuraskincare.co.uk. You would need to see a naturopath or homeopath to establish the underlying cause to prevent it coming back - see www.babydirectory.com under complementary medicine to find a good practtioer in your area.

NatureDoc · 06/12/2004 22:09

I have not seen any info specifically on warts with colloidal silver but it is a good antiviral so it would be worth a go - however a good naturopath, herbalist or homeopath in your area that sees kids on a regular basis would be able to advise on dosages etc. Warts are best zapped by boosting the immune system , using homeopathy and then using thuja tincture topically. Hope this helps.

Thanks for your help NatureDoc - One last thing - is colloidal silver readily available over here that you know of?

You can get it from www.nutricentre.com who are part of The Hale Clinic - there are loads of other websites selling it but cannot depend on quality.

I was once recommended to try colloidal silver for RSI, I didn't try it because it seemed very strange to me but as I still have the RSI many years later, I was thinking of giving it a try. However, from what naturedoc has said, it doesn't sound as if it would be of any use for RSI. Has anyone any experience of using it in this way?
