Hi all, please can anyone recommend the best cream for ringworm? Have been using Dakracort Hydrocortisone 1% Cream but was considering trying Canestan 2%?

My DH had ringworm on his leg and tried Canesten. He had used it a few times but missed occasionally and randomly, so it never cleared up. So then started a regime of three times a day for a month. It finally got rid of it, but you have to be consistent with use. HTH. Good luck!

Ask a pharmacist. They will advise you from the viewpoint of medical knowledge.

I have found Daktarin to be more effective than Canesten.

We had some stronger than you can buy Daktarin prescribed when DD had suspected ringworm.

katem98 · 15/11/2022 09:14

@DorritLittle Thanks. I feel that we may need something stronger for my DD too. Seems to be everywhere in small patches!

Clotrimazole 1% which is antifungal you need to keep applying the cream for 2-3 weeks after the rash has gone as that will prevent it returning can buy over the counter

katem98 · 15/11/2022 09:23

@Sunrae28 Do you think 2% would be better than 1%?

@katem98 I think either Clomitrazole 1% or miconazole 2% from what I remember pharmacist saying when I had it
