Headache not a brain tumour then

I have had a headache now for 8 days, and have never had one quite like this. Finaly went to the doc and it seems as if my blood pressure 160/82 could be the cause. So I'm off for some tests, what fun.

The headache starts at the back and moves forward, one side only, it is fine when I have just woken up and gets worse through the day and when I move. Anyone had one like this, and if so what helped, how long did it last?

The Ibuprofen Queen

I had a headache recently that went on for almost 2 weeks but my blood pressure is quite low. It's gone now and I've no idea what caused it. It coincided with giving up smoking but went on way beyond the 3 days in which one may get a headache from nicotine withdrawal. I thought high blood pressure headaches were meant to be worse first thing in the morning and pounding on the top of the head? Yours may be a cluster headache which is what I think mine probably was. There's quite a bit of info on it.

Hope it stops. It's horrible. I thought I was probably destroying my liver with all the pain relief stuff I was on in the end.

Try changing your painkillers. You can get into a cycle when you build up using the same painkillers, where they actually cause the headache. So if you've lived on Ibuprofen for the last few days, swap to paracetamol for a day, see if it helps.

If your headache has become severe by the time you went to the docs, the pain could be causing your high blood pressure.

Can't be vision, as I Know I am as blind as a bat and have the glasses to prove it.

Good point about the b/p being the effect and not the cause. I was just glas it wasn't a tumour

With dh's medical history I'm a bit twitchy when it comes to illness!

I've had a megrane and although the pain is like it, it isn't there all the time (fine when I get up and then gets worst thru the day). Also they have never laster more than a day or so. I'm not in work I feel so grim but it sounds so wet, 'I've got a bad head' IYSWIM
