Hi, looking for an opinion, I usually have no toilet troubles but mon 31/10 woke with awful tummy and watery stools, felt off it still got my covid and flu jag Monday night. Tuesday and Wednesday no toileting but had a temp and felt rubbish from jags, Thursday got word back that a really small breast abscess I have has staph lugdunasis come back on the swab (head healed) but had to take a 7 day course of clarithromycin, Thursday Friday had watery stools and all last week off and on ranging from Very watery to very soft….nothing normal…. I’m reluctant to visit gp because I know the antibiotics will be blamed even thought this started 4 days previous. No blood minimal mucus and generally feel ok albeit pissed off… thanks for any advice in advance.

I know you said it started before the clarithromycin but that certainly won’t have helped. Ideally you shouldn’t have attended for your vaccinations, not least because you could have been spreading around whatever caused your tummy issues! Also, one of the questions you should have been asked prior to vaccination is ‘are you well in yourself today’.
You would have been best to contact the surgery to see if they could have given you a different antibiotic though, it sounds miserable. It would still be worth speaking to them, they may, as you have suffered for 2 weeks, want to send a sample to the microbiology lab to check it. I hope you get it resolved soon, don’t just keep on suffering!

Thanks for your reply. Yea you are certainly right on the “am I feeling well enough today” as even though I brushed this off in the morning as nothing I would not say I was feeling my best that day at all (but also didn’t want to miss my jag either as it’s a long wait and didn’t want to waste a jag) catch 22.
I think your also right that the antibiotic won’t have helped even though it started prior to taking it, I might wait it out to next week and see what happens 🤪… thank you
