CT scan results wait time

canteatlovefood · 14/11/2022 10:33

I had a CT scan last week and have received a letter today that my follow up appt with the consultant is 14th December.

Due to the long time does this mean they likely found nothing on the scan? As if they did would my appt have been made sooner rather than later ?

Any experience would be helpful. I want to stop worrying

I think that's pretty quick considering the state of the NHS at the moment.
Doesn't sound like an emergency tho. Fingers crossed for you

I had one middle of September and got the result last week. Showed an abnormality but not one that requires any action.
The previous time I had one a few years ago I got a call within a week because they found something that needed treating.
Hope all is well for you @canteatlovefood Flowers

I got the results then and there when they were looking for something nasty - so I wouldn’t expect them to delay 4 weeks+ if they found something serious.

I think the wait for results is very long at the minute in a lot of trusts. It probably also depends what the scan was for?
I have stage 4 cancer and have a scan every 3 months to see if palliative treatment keeping me stable. I used to get appt 2 weeks after for results, however despite me having progression this time in results, I had to wait 4 weeks for the results. I think that's the norm now around here

Thanks everyone. So could be either ha.
Tbh it's all been pretty quick by nhs standards. I've been having stomach issues since maybe June, can't eat properly and have lost a lot of weight.
I've had an ultrasound & endoscopy which were both fine and was then sent for a CT. I was referred to a local private hospital but as nhs patient and everything has been pretty quick. I suppose just trying to read into the wait time as I'm so fed up. So whilst I don't want them to find anything sinister I do what them to find something so I can be fixed as it's really getting me down now. If this is clear not sure what the next step is.
