I think it started when I almost got drowned while drinking water after eating then everytime I drink now, I'm scared because I might get drowned. Then months later, I was diagnosed with anxiety. I don't even know how, like I was normal today then the next day, suddenly I can't breathe. I thought my asthma came back. Then I went to the doctor,he said its anxiety but I don't believe it, so I went to another doctor and same diagnosis. After a month, I still can't breathe properly so I went for follow up check up, the doctor told me to get blood test for cbc, platelet count, FT4, TSH. If all turns out normal, I really am having anxiety.

You say water. Does this just happen with water or with all drinks?
How about food? Can you swallow that without struggling?

And I cry everyday thinking I should have just died instead of having this feeling of I don't even know if its really anxiety.

This comment really concerns me. I struggle with health anxiety due to 3 seperate pregnancy and birth traumas, but I've never felt as though I should of died at the time instead of dealing with this health anxiety.
Have you said those exact words to your GP?

Hi op. I am a health working involved in swallowing difficulties. Anxiety, stress and tension in throat can lead to feel that swallowing is difficult. And after a bad swallowing event lots of ppl do get more anxious, so you are not alone. Do you feel like drink is going down the wrong way every time you drink, or was it a one off but your worries each time you swallow drink?
If you are coughing when drinking then you ask for an onward referral from your gp. Even if Anxiety a referral for a barium swallow may help to confirm?

Yes, I told my doctor when she asked me what I always think. Then she smiled, you can see in her eyes that she understands it.

I feel both like when I swallow, it goes the wrong way and I'm conscious at the same time because I feel like my throat will block the water and will cause me to drown. I don't cough after drinking.
