Help!! Mirena coil

does anyone have any experience of lower back pain with the mirena coil? I had mine inserted 3 weeks ago and have developed moderate and constant back ache in the last few days. Has anyone had this and had it go away?? Is it a ‘settling in’ thing?
TIA

Hi, had mine in 2 years ago and developed sacroiliac joint pain (felt like back pain at first and when bad goes to my back but the pattern seems to be sacroiliac ligament related) 6 months ago which is crippling by the evening. Just had coil taken out today to see if perhaps the hormones in it have contributed to or caused my problems perhaps affecting the ligaments. I’m hypermobile anyway so maybe the extra hormones were the final straw! Will let you know if my pain resolves!

Firstly I am not a medic. But I think back pain is not likely to be the coil unless eg you’ve developed an infection which is possible post insertion. It’s more likely that you’ve injured your back in some way, either through some kind of acute incident, or through general wear and tear or poor posture eg if you sit at a desk all day.

I think IUD related back pain is rare (perhaps one could even say debatable) but there is a bit of literature/ a few case studies out there about it if you Google search. For me I don’t need my coil any longer so defiantly worth a go without. However you are right peppermintypatty normal back problems are of course frustratingly common! Likewise this is not posted in a professional capacity x
