Hysterectomy scar bleeding?

Had abdominal hysterectomy about 3 weeks ago. Staples removed after 10 days, wound was really good. This week I woke up one day and the pain was a lot better, did a bit more walking than normal. Prob did too much. Felt a twinge and then it became quite painful again...had to get back on the painkillers etc for a few nights.

Felt a bit better today as I've rested quite a bit.

Noticed one side is a bit damp and spots of blood.

Do I need to do anything or worry at this point? 😞

It sounds as though you've done too much and possibly stretched the wound as it was healing. Recovery can be very up and down after an abdominal hysterectomy (I had one about 5 years ago). Are you bleeding from your vagina, or is it just the wound? If just the wound I would give it a couple of days and see if it clears up. If you're bleeding vaginally (or vaginal bleeding has suddenly increased) I would get it looked at; see if you can bring forward your follow-up with your consultant.

When my C-section scar opened up at a similar time frame I went the walk in center for antibiotics and they dressed it with these Mepilex Border Lite dressings (I got more from Amazon) not cheap but they kept it clean and dry and it healed well!

Always worth getting checked out though!

Thank you @AnApparitionQuipped and @FTM2022SS for the helpful replies. I've been really worried and not been able to get through to my consultant or GP today as it's the weekend.

It's not bleeding vaginally, just the wound...it's a bit oozy! I clearly did too much or pulled it somehow. I've just popped to the pharmacy to get a few dressings and they told me to keep an eye out for infection. I'm really cross with myself to be honest but will take it easy for a few days and see how it goes.
