Breast cancer - dimple

MummaC95 · 11/11/2022 20:11

Last week I noticed a dimple in my right breast when raising my arm. The doctor I saw today, who isn’t my usual doctor, completely fobbed me off. She didn’t even touch my breasts, just told me to put my arms on my waist and asked if I had any pain, I am 27 so I believe this was why she fobbed me off. I walked straight out of her room and to the receptionist to book an appointment with another doctor, the receptionist was understanding.

I have a phone call with the senior doctor on Monday, so I’m hoping I am able to be seen again and she takes my concerns more seriously.

I have seen many images of minor dimpling, and mine looks similar.

What do you think?

Thank you.

I think you’re doing the right thing, OP! I would put a complaint in against that first GP since she didn’t even examine you properly. I have read about BC symptoms and yes, dimpling can be a cause for concern but you are being proactive and getting it checked. I hope it’s nothing to worry about 💐

I had a similar dimple and it did turn out to be cancer (but yours might not be! I'm not a doctor). I also had an enormous lump (10cm tumour!) so the doc referred me on the 2 week wait protocol.

I just checked the protocol and as you're under 30 then they don't have to refer you, but can offer an appointment with a specialist so I'd push for that!

Good luck with the doctor, and I hope you get to see a specialist and set your mind at rest

Definitely ask to be put on the two week referral for the breast clinic. The GP should not dismiss you because of your age. You are right to get it checked.

Push for a referral. A dimple was the only symptom of my breast cancer. My GP couldn't find the lump but referred me anyway and it's a good job she did.

Please don't worry, this doesn't mean your dimple is cancer, just that it should be properly checked.

Thanks for your response. I had another appointment yesterday with the senior GP, as I was walking into your room or saw the other doctor. It was very awkward

Thank you. I had a call from the senior GP at 8:45am yesterday, a face to face appointment with her at 10:40am, she gave me a proper examination, was highly informative, and booked me in for a referral. I got a call from the breast clinic at 2pm, and I have an appointment in 2 days. Feels good knowing she took me seriously and saw what I could see!

mumma I had this and it was a cyst causing the pulling effect or sometimes it happens when you lose or gain weight, according to the doctor. I'm so glad you pushed this and glad you are being seen quickly. Wishing you all the best 🌷

Itchintobestitchin · 15/11/2022 07:28

I'm so glad you got your referral. Wishing you a speedy and happy outcome. 💐

Lovelydrizzle · 15/11/2022 09:35

I'm happy you got your referral, I was thinking about you! Everything crossed for a positive outcome 🤞

@MummaC95 ive sometning similar and also the same age as you with a young baby, how did yours go? I’d soo much appreciate a response I’m going up and down the walls with worry :(

MummaC95 · 16/09/2023 11:23

I got an appointment at the breast clinic and everything checks out ok! The nurse said it’s probably due to weight gain. Definitely push for an appointment, I hope it is nothing serious for you xx

@MummaC95 thanks so much for your reply OP, means a lot! I struggle with health anxiety the best of times so this isn’t nice for me! Mine looks quite like yours but in a different area: unfortunately my Gp isn’t around till the 28th so it’s nerve wracking right now :(
