Hospital visitors?

Are hospitals allowing visitors back yet?

My elderly df has day surgery booked soon. There's a small possibility he will be kept in and I was just wondering.

Does it very from trust to trust?

My FIL has just had a 6wk hospital stay ☹️ He was only allowed one visitor per day for one hour. They then had a covid outbreak on the ward and visits were stopped for affected bays but still allowed for everyone else. I’d imagine it varies with NHS trust tho

DH was in hospital three weeks ago for a major operation, visiting hours were 6-8 every week day, and 2-4 as well on the weekends (wards were locked until then so it was strictly enforced).

Our local hospital is 2-8 and they've always had the rule about 2 around the bed.

Look on the hospital website, it will tell you the current rules.

Our hospital only let you in for 1 hour, and only if you booked with the ward sister.

But you could drop things off or have an amazon delivery to reception at anytime.

Thanks!

My df had a heart attack in 2020 and another admittance a year later and developed hyperactive delirium which was probably exacerbated by having no visitors. He is also in the early stages of dementia.

Think it varies. We were allowed one named visitor for duration of stay.

SophieJo · 10/11/2022 19:06

Our local hospital is 11-12, 2-3 and 7-8 strictly adhered to and 2 people.

TurquoiseBeach · 10/11/2022 19:11

We were allowed to visit during normal visiting hours.

I have to book visits to my husband. There are two two hour slots daily 2-4 and 6-8 I can do either or both and he is allowed up to two visitors at a time. There is no admission outside these hours . I do 2-4 every day.

My DM is in a psychiatric hospital and visitors are allowed any time apart from meal
times.

When 18yo DD was in hospital over the summer I was allowed to visit between 2-4 and 7-9, although realistically she had her own room so the nurses didn’t really mind when i came at all

My mother was in hospital over Christmas and New Year and was allowed two visitors around her bed between midday and 7pm.

There were three of us there a couple of times and nobody batted an eyelid.

Interesting updates.

Family member in hospital from just before Christmas until last week.

First week or so on Critical Care ward. Two-hour slots which had to be pre-booked and only close family. When they moved to next ward, visiting was 11 - 7 and two visitors at a time.
