Gallstones & Previous Surgery

I think I may have gallstones and awaiting tests / scans. Pain is under the right ribs, reading on here and online it sounds like it. Have also lost weight quite quickly which is meant to be a risk factor for them.

Thing is, I have had lots of previous abdominal surgery for adhesions / bowel obstruction, and last time the surgeons said we need to avoid any more surgery of at all possible. Keyhole would be out of the question.

I'm wondering where this leaves me if I need surgery for the gallbladder. And what the alternative might me. I guess it would be open surgery and maybe the adhesions are worse lower down where the bowel is...perhaps!

I know I need to wait and speak to the doctors, but just wondered if anyone had any experience of this.

I have also read there is something you can take which helps dissolve the gallstones without surgery called Ursodiol. Has anyone used this?

Thanks
