I am in a right funk and in need of sympathy after finding out I have a breast abscess.
Background: I had mastitis a couple of weeks ago that spiralled quickly and led to 4 days in hospital on IV antibiotics. I then had a week course of oral antibiotics. After that I felt much better for 2 days then the damn infection returned and a large lump formed. Now on new antibiotics and got ultrasound 2 days ago that confirmed abscess, which was aspirated by needle. I have to go back next week to probably have it drained again. I am taking the antibiotics in the meantime but wondering what to expect. To me it does not feel much different - it is still sore, big and red, but the consultant did say she was unable to get much because it was so thick- it was milky with pink/red.
I feel utterly fed up with this and anxiety through the roof given the IV antibiotics and how unwell I got last time. Also worried it's going to burst! No idea what to do if it does.
