I had blood tests in July which showed an iron deficiency .. my serum iron was 11 and my transferrin saturation index was 13%

I was prescribed ferrous fumerate 200mg and told to take 3 tablets a day. When I enquired for how long, I was told it didn't matter really ..:

So I've been taking them for the past 4/5 months and really didn't know when I should stop so I booked another blood test which I had to mildly battle for

My serum iron level is now 36 and my saturation index is now 54% so I appear to have over-ironed myself

No advice on what to do as obviously doctor too busy to get to a minor issue like this (I know my levels as I have full access on the app) so what do I do?

Just stop taking the tablets altogether? Any advice welcome

Not a doctor or in any way have any professional medical training so do speak to your doctor for sure before I add:
I am currently pregnant and have slightly low iron very borderline so was told to try Spatone.

Doctor prescribed what you have and my midwife said not to take it as my iron wasn't that low at the time. She said if I was going to take the tablets over the Spatone sachet I definitely shouldn't take them 3 times a day and actually take 1 a day every few days.

Not sure if that can be the case for you.
