I've been having coughing fits for the last 2, nearly 3, weeks. Mainly at night or in the afternoon. Initially they were just dry tickly coughs, slightly wheezy. Now they are more chesty and sometimes productive but mainly dry still. The coughing fits are quite intense where I can't stop coughing, my eyes are watering and they make me gag and nearly vomit.
I feel fine in myself otherwise, a bit of a stuffy nose and a bit more tired than usual. I've taken 2 lateral flow tests - both negative. This is my first cold/virus since having COVID in March, and it's my first time ever having a chesty cough so I think COVID may have damaged my lungs as colds never tend to go to my chest.
I'm in my 20s, healthy, non-smoker.
Should I go and see the GP or just wait it out? I know coughs can take a while to go.
