5yo white spots on tonsils

DS 5 has a fever Friday night Into Saturday.
Treated with Calpol that kept it down.
He woke thismorning and was sick twice, then complained of a sore throat. Had a look and can see white spots/ulcers on his tonsils and back of throat.
Going to see the doctor tomorrow.
Does this sound like tonsillitis?
Can tonsillitis make you be sick?
And if it is tonsillitis is there any chance it is viral with the white spots or is it definitely bacterial and needing antibiotics if he has white spots on the tonsils?thanks

Could it be strep? Strep throat is excruciating - poor ds.

can you phone 111?

Sounds like tonsillitis, my DS suffered a few years on and off infections, usually starting with headache and fever so we knew the signs. Yes he was often actually sick as bacterial infections can do this. We were always told white spots needed antibiotics.

Sounds like he needs antibiotics.

If his throat’s a bit sore and swollen then coughing could make him gag and be sick too rather than the illness actually causing sickness.
