Hypothyroid & Levothyroxine

This is a long one so bear with me.
I’m 28. Earlier this year I started taking 50mg Thyroxine, my thyroid levels didn’t quite reach under active at the time but as I had positive antibodies they agreed to start me on a dose as I would positively become hypothyroid.
As I have antibodies does this mean I have hypothyroidism or Hashimotos? I did ask the doctor as I was confused and he kind of didn’t really answer the question.
I didn’t have many symptoms to begin with, it was more tiredness and brain fog that I put down to being a new mum. I feel like these days I get a lot of aching in my bones. And heart palpitations at night time! I’m trying to track this and at the moment it looks like this happens around ovulation. Coincidence?
If anyone can shed any light on this I’d be so appreciative! Thanks xx

The antibodies mean you have Hashimoto's - this is autoimmunity. The antibodies will be destroying thyroid tissue and this then causes your thyroid to have less capacity and so you become underactive. So you have both hypothyroidism and Hashimoto's.

Heart palps and aching are quite common with under-treated hypothyroidism. It's an insidious disease because it causes so many symptoms (as thyroid hormone is essential for every system in our body). 50 mcg levo is a very low dose, it's possible you need an increase. Do you have any recent thyroid labs you can share?
